Toy Story 5 shatters Japan box‑office record, celebrated with Tokyo Disneyland voice‑actor event

The Pixar sequel ‘Toy Story 5’ opened in Japan with an estimated $16 million (about ¥2.57 billion) over its three‑day weekend, the highest opening for any Hollywood film in the country measured in local currency. The debut drew roughly 1.7 million admissions, surpassing the previous franchise record set by ‘Toy Story 4’ and placing the film among the top ten biggest Hollywood openings in Japan.

To mark the release, Tokyo Disneyland hosted a private “Fan Time With Toy Story 5” evening party. Eight Japanese voice actors, including Toshiyuki (唐沢寿明), George (所ジョージ), Alice Hirose, and Yuto Sano, gathered for a special talk‑show and parade, promoting the film to fans at the park.

Globally, the movie earned $312 million in its opening weekend and has crossed $550 million worldwide, positioning it as the franchise’s most successful entry to date.
