Toy Story 5 release draws criticism over plot hole and launches limited‑edition Dr Simi plush tie‑in in Mexico

The fifth installment of Pixar’s Toy Story franchise opened on 18 June, generating more than $300 million worldwide in its opening weekend. Viewers noted a continuity error involving the collector Al McWhiggin’s plan to perfect a toy lot, sparking online debate about the film’s storyline.

In Mexico, Farmacias Similares partnered with Disney/Pixar to issue a limited‑edition “simipeluche” collection featuring Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Only 40,000 units of each plush are available nationwide, priced at 399 pesos, and produced in a factory that employs a majority of workers with disabilities, linking the promotional merchandise to a social‑impact initiative.
