Toy Story 5 surpasses $1 billion, becoming 2026’s top‑grossing film

Pixar’s fifth Toy Story installment reached a worldwide box‑office total of approximately $1.022 billion in its sixth weekend, making it the highest‑earning film of 2026. About $448.5 million came from the United States while $573.5 million was generated overseas, with strong ticket sales in more than fifty countries and only modest week‑to‑week declines.

In a separate announcement, Pixar unveiled a new short titled “Loving Dory.” The film brings Ellen DeGeneres back as the voice of Dory for the first time since the 2016 sequel Finding Dory. Directed by long‑time Pixar employee Lou Hamou‑Lhadj, the short follows Dory’s comedic romance with a wayward plastic bag mistaken for a jellyfish, culminating in a rescue by fellow marine characters and a human snorkeler.
