Toy Story 5 to premiere on Disney+ on September 23

Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on September 23. Following its theatrical run, the film has become a major commercial success, grossing over $1.1 billion worldwide. In the United States, the film earned $478 million, marking one of the strongest animated debuts of the year.

Directed by Andrew Stanton and co-directed by McKenna Harris, the story follows iconic characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie as they navigate a new challenge: the rise of digital technology, represented by a child-friendly tablet named Lilypad. The film has received strong critical acclaim, earning Certified Fresh and Verified Hot ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, along with an A grade from CinemaScore.

The streaming launch coincides with the release of a new music video for a piano version of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” an original song by Taylor Swift written and produced alongside Jack Antonoff. The track, which features imagery from the film, highlights the character Jessie. The Toy Story franchise remains Disney+’s most-watched film series, with over 2 billion hours streamed globally.
