Toyama Prefectural Assembly opens session to address heavy rain recovery

The Toyama Prefectural Assembly has opened its September regular session. Governor Nitta stated that the administration is committed to full recovery efforts following record-breaking heavy rains that began late last month.

The prefecture is preparing a supplementary budget to cover costs for repairing damaged roads, rivers, and agricultural waterways. Additionally, a budget of approximately 170 million yen has been submitted to enhance transportation links between Toyama Airport and Takayama and to promote tourism following the airport's rebranding.

In a separate regional matter, the Noshiro City Council in Akita Prefecture withdrew a budget proposal for a children's exchange facility due to concerns regarding tsunami inundation risks at the proposed site.
