Toyooka ranked top destination for 2026 Silver Week holidays

Reiwa Travel, through its travel application NEWT, has released a ranking of top-rated ‘hidden gem’ municipalities for the 2026 Silver Week holidays. The ranking is based on booking data and search trends, reflecting a growing interest in lesser-known destinations over traditional tourist hubs.

Toyooka City in Hyogo Prefecture secured the first position, driven by the historical Kinosaki Onsen area and its unique bathing culture. Onomichi in Hiroshima Prefecture ranked second due to its scenic port landscapes and cycling routes, while Kamikawa in Hokkaido took third place, noted for its early autumn foliage in Daisetsuzan National Park. Other notable mentions include Shari in Hokkaido and Miyazaki City.

In conjunction with these trends, NEWT is launching an ‘Autumn Travel Sale’ starting August 22, 2026. The sale aims to address rising demand for year-end and New Year travel, offering discounted international tours to destinations such as South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and Hawaii to mitigate the impact of the weak yen and rising prices.
