Toyota and Mitsubishi compete in hybrid compact SUV market

The compact SUV market is seeing increased competition through electrification, specifically between the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid and the Mitsubishi Xforce Hybrid.

In the Indonesian market, the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid utilizes a Full Hybrid (HEV) system that switches between electric, gasoline, and combined modes. It has demonstrated fuel efficiency between 25 and 30 km/liter. The Mitsubishi Xforce Hybrid aims for high responsiveness and competitive efficiency, with initial data suggesting figures between 22 and 26 km/liter.

In the United Kingdom, Toyota has updated the Yaris Cross with refreshed styling and a standardized Hybrid 130 powertrain across all models. This powertrain produces 129hp and offers combined fuel economy between 55mpg and 64mpg. The update includes redesigned grilles, headlights, and new alloy wheels, alongside enhanced equipment levels for various trim levels such as Icon, Design, and Excel.
