Toyota announces hybrid updates for Crown Sport and Land Cruiser 300

Toyota has announced significant updates to two of its major vehicle lines in Japan. The Crown Sport series will undergo product improvements in September 2026, most notably with the introduction of a more accessible Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) grade, the Sport Z. This new model offers a 306ps system output and an EV range of approximately 90km. When factoring in the 850,000 yen CEV subsidy, the effective price difference between the PHEV Sport Z and the Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) version is reduced to just 16,800 yen.

Additionally, the Land Cruiser 300 series will receive a partial update on October 1, featuring the introduction of a new parallel hybrid system. This hybrid model combines a large-displacement twin-turbo engine with an electric motor to improve off-road control and on-road acceleration. The Land Cruiser 300 hybrid will be available in ZX and GR SPORT grades, with prices starting at approximately 9.8 million yen.
