Toyota bZ4X gets upgraded Touring version with dual motors, larger battery

Toyota has introduced a Touring variant of its bZ4X electric SUV. The model adds a rear‑motor matching the front’s 165 kW output, raising total system power to 280 kW and delivering a 0‑100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. It uses a larger 74.7 kWh lithium‑ion battery (71.0 kWh usable), giving a WLTP range of about 488 km. Exterior changes include a longer wheelbase (140 mm added behind the rear axle), new colour options, and 20‑inch alloy wheels. Interior upgrades feature a 14‑inch multimedia screen, a 7‑inch instrument display, wireless phone charging, and a khaki‑green interior trim. Boot capacity rises to 603 L. The aerodynamic drag coefficient improves to Cd 0.27. Toyota Australia expects the Touring’s added power, space and price‑premium of roughly $2,000 to lift annual Australian sales from roughly 1,000 units to about 5,000 units in 2026.
