Toyota C-HR+ wins major Norwegian electric vehicle efficiency test

The Toyota C-HR+ emerged as the most efficient electric vehicle in the El Prix test, the world’s largest independent comparison of EVs, organized by the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) and Motor magazine.

During the two-day test conducted near Oslo, the Toyota achieved an efficiency of 8.15 km/kWh. With a 72 kWh net battery capacity, this resulted in a real-world range of approximately 587 km. The test focused on efficiency by dividing the actual distance traveled by the battery capacity, allowing for a fair comparison between vehicles with vastly different battery sizes.

The podium included the Mercedes-Benz CLA350 Shooting Brake in second place with 7.94 km/kWh, followed by the Kia EV2 in third with 7.92 km/kWh. The results suggest that larger battery capacities do not inherently guarantee superior efficiency or range. The Toyota's success is attributed in part to its lower curb weight.
