Toyota secures WEC manufacturers’ title with Barcelona victory

Toyota Racing has clinched the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) manufacturers’ title following a dominant one-two finish at the 6 Hours of Barcelona. The Japanese manufacturer secured its eighth manufacturers’ crown in 14 seasons, marking its fifth title in the Hypercar era.

The No. 8 Toyota TR010 Hybrid, driven by Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryō Hirakawa, took the victory. They were followed closely by their sister car, the No. 7 Toyota, piloted by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries. Ferrari’s No. 50 499P completed the podium in third place.

The race, held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, began under wet conditions, causing early chaos that saw pole-sitter André Lotterer of Genesis lose the lead. Despite a five-second penalty for a start procedure violation, the No. 8 Toyota maintained control for much of the event.

While the manufacturers’ championship is decided, the battle for the drivers’ title remains open between the two Toyota crews. The championship will conclude at the season finale in Monza on November 8. In the LMGT3 category, Porsche’s No. 92 team, The Bend Manthey, secured the win.
