Toyota Corolla next generation rumored for 2027 release
Toyota is reportedly developing a new generation of the Corolla, with rumors suggesting a concept or prototype could be unveiled in October 2026 to coincide with the model's 60th anniversary. The production version is expected to enter the market in 2027.
Design changes may include a shift toward a more aerodynamic fastback silhouette, potentially incorporating design elements from the Toyota Prius. The new lineup is expected to offer diverse powertrain options, including internal combustion engines, hybrid systems (potentially featuring a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine), plug-in hybrids (PHEV), and fully electric versions (EV) with ranges exceeding 400 kilometers.
Speculation also points to a high-performance GR version featuring a 2.0-liter turbo engine producing up to 395 horsepower. The updated model is anticipated to compete with vehicles such as the Honda Civic and Volkswagen Vento, with sales expected in markets including the United States and Argentina.
