Toyota, Daimler, and Volvo partner for European hydrogen transport
Toyota Motor Corporation, Daimler Truck AG, and Volvo Group have announced a collaborative initiative to develop a hydrogen ecosystem for heavy-duty transport in Europe by 2030. The project aims to create an integrated value chain that includes vehicle development, infrastructure construction, and hydrogen supply.
Key partners in the initiative include Bosch, Air Liquide, and TotalEnergies, among others. The collaboration focuses on establishing hydrogen refueling stations along strategic European corridors to support long-distance heavy traffic, where battery technology faces limitations regarding range and charging times.
Germany is positioned as the central hub for this industrial ecosystem. The group intends to ensure hydrogen is a scalable, practical, and economically competitive solution for zero-emission heavy transport.
