Toyota delays PHEV Hilux while Volvo offers ready‑to‑deliver hybrid models in Greece

Toyota says plug‑in hybrid (PHEV) technology is not yet mature enough for the Hilux pickup. Ray Munday, Senior Manager of Product Planning and Pricing for Toyota Australia, explained that the additional weight of PHEV systems reduces payload and towing capacity, falling short of Hilux customers' expectations. Toyota will continue focusing on mild‑hybrid, battery‑electric and future hydrogen powertrains for the Hilux and will not launch a PHEV version in the near term, even as rivals such as the Ford Ranger already offer plug‑in hybrid variants.

In Greece, Volvo’s local dealer has eight models available for immediate delivery, covering a range of powertrains: mild‑hybrid, plug‑in hybrid and fully electric. The lineup includes the EX30, XC40, EX40, V60, EC40, XC60, XC90 and EX90, with detailed specifications and starting prices that incorporate state electric‑vehicle incentives. These models provide customers with a broad selection of hybrid and electric SUVs and crossovers ready for purchase without waiting periods.
