Toyota expands electric and hybrid offerings with new bZ4X SUV and Yaris market competition

Toyota introduced the 2026 bZ4X Touring, a fully electric SUV built on a Subaru‑derived platform. The model is 14 cm longer than the original, offers an XXL trunk, and is available with rear‑wheel or all‑wheel drive. Its 74.7 kWh battery provides up to 600 km of range and supports 150 kW ultra‑fast charging, filling from 10 % to 80 % in under half an hour. The AWD version produces 380 hp and accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 4.4 seconds, with a starting price of €50,900.

In the compact hybrid segment, the Toyota Yaris remains the benchmark for fuel efficiency. Comparative data show the Yaris and its Mazda‑2 twin achieving the lowest WLTP consumption at around 3.8 L/100 km, while rivals such as the Renault Clio e‑Tech, Honda Jazz hybrid and MG3 Hybrid+ record slightly higher figures. Performance figures place the Yaris 0‑100 km/h at 9.7 seconds (130 hp), with the other models offering comparable but marginally slower acceleration.
