Toyota expands technical training amid rising electric vehicle sales in Peru
Electrified vehicle sales in Peru have seen significant growth, with 8,285 hybrid and electric units sold during the first half of 2026, marking an 86% increase compared to the same period the previous year, according to the Asociación Automotriz del Perú.
To address the technical requirements of this shift, Toyota del Perú has launched several educational initiatives. The company conducted training sessions for over 30 members of the Cuerpo General de Bomberos Voluntarios del Perú, covering safety systems and technical considerations for self-rechargeable hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and 100% electric vehicles to ensure informed emergency responses.
Additionally, Toyota del Perú partnered with the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC) to host a session for over 70 students. The program focused on electromobility and sustainable mobility, discussing Toyota’s multi-technology strategy which includes hydrogen cells and various hybrid options to facilitate a progressive transition toward carbon neutrality.
