Toyota GR GT3 to make competitive racing debut

Toyota is set to debut its new GR GT3 racer this weekend during the final two races of the 2026 Super GT season in Japan. The vehicle will compete at the Motegi racing circuit in the GT300 class, fielded by Rookie Racing.

The GR GT3 is designed for global competition and is intended to replace the Lexus RC F GT3, which has been Toyota's primary racing representative since 2014. Following this debut, the car is scheduled to participate in major international GT3 championships throughout 2027, including the Nürburgring 24 Hours in Germany.

While specific technical details for the weekend's concept version remain unannounced, the GR GT3 prototype features a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. This differs from the road-going GR GT, which utilizes a hybrid system combining a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor.
