Toyota Group seeks Philippine government support for automotive industry
Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) and its export suppliers have called for continued government support and the timely implementation of automotive industry programs to sustain local manufacturing. During a meeting with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), TMP President Masando Hashimoto highlighted the need for programs like RACE and EVIS to strengthen local supplier capabilities and expand participation in automotive value chains.
Toyota Group’s presence in the Philippines includes 13 export suppliers that have generated over PHP34 billion in cumulative investments and more than 45,000 direct jobs. Export sales for these suppliers are projected to reach USD 1.06 billion by 2026, despite challenges such as softer market demand and global trade uncertainties.
In a separate development, Toyota will showcase electric and utility vehicles at upcoming events in Manila. The company plans to participate in the 2026 Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS), featuring Lexus and Toyota electric models, and the Philippine International Truck Show (PITS), where it will display the new Tamaraw MPUV and various utility configurations.
