Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV faces recall in Japan and launch in Philippines

Mitsubishi Motors has announced a recall in Japan for 13,226 Outlander PHEV units manufactured between October 2024 and February 2026. The recall, submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, addresses a navigation system defect where improper control programming may cause the screen to freeze, reboot, or fail to display camera footage during reversing or left-side checks. No accidents have been reported from the 52 identified cases.

Simultaneously, Mitsubishi Motors is expanding its electrified presence in Southeast Asia. The company has officially launched the current-generation Outlander PHEV in the Philippines via Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation. This marks the model’s first introduction to the ASEAN region. The flagship SUV features a 2.4-liter MIVEC engine paired with a 22.7 kWh lithium battery, offering a combined range of approximately 1,000 km and an electric-only range of about 100 km.
