Toyota Hilux 9th generation launches with electric and mild‑hybrid models in Europe

Toyota Motor Corporation has introduced the ninth‑generation Hilux pickup, offering both a fully electric (BEV) version and a diesel mild‑hybrid (MHEV) model. The electric variant uses dual motors with permanent all‑wheel drive, delivers 196 hp, and is equipped with a 59.2 kWh NMC battery that provides up to 257 km WLTP range. Fast DC charging up to 125 kW reaches 80 % in about 30 minutes, while AC charging at 10 kW takes roughly 6½ hours. In Portugal, the diesel Hilux starts at €49,500 for the three‑seat metal‑box version, with higher‑spec trims offering larger infotainment screens (up to 12.3 inches) and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. The electric model’s payload is 710 kg and can tow up to 1.6 t, compared with 1,025 kg payload and 3.5 t towing capacity for the diesel.
