Toyota Hilux 9th‑gen and Cadillac Lyriq V unveiled in Japan

Toyota introduced the ninth generation of its Hilux pickup, featuring a full model change and a new “Cyber SUMO” exterior inspired by sumo wrestlers. The truck retains the ladder‑frame chassis and is powered by a 2.8 L 1GD‑FTV diesel engine, offering up to 500 kg payload capacity and updated safety and connectivity features for both work and outdoor use.

Cadillac launched the Lyriq V, a high‑performance all‑electric SUV, in Japan as a right‑hand‑drive model priced at ¥1.890 million. The vehicle uses a dual‑motor AWD system delivering 646 PS (475 kW) and 92.2 kg·m of torque, accelerating from 0–96 km/h in 3.3 seconds. It includes a 33‑inch LED display and premium interior appointments, with deliveries expected in early 2027.
