Toyota introduces 9th‑gen Hilux pickup with electric version in Indonesia
Toyota-Astra Motor officially unveiled the ninth‑generation Hilux pickup in Indonesia on 29 June 2026. The new model features a 2.8‑litre 1GD‑FTV diesel engine delivering 201 hp and 500 Nm of torque, part‑time 4WD with rear differential lock, and a higher ground clearance of 312 mm. Styling is updated under the “Cyber Sumo” design language, and the cabin receives a horizontal dashboard, larger touchscreen displays (up to 12.3 inches) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and additional comfort features. A battery‑electric version (BEV) is also offered, priced at roughly Rp 1.02 billion. President Director Takuya Yokohama highlighted the model’s role in supporting business and off‑road activities, noting that Hilux’s market share in the 4×4 pickup segment rose from 57 % (Jan‑May 2025) to 70.2 % in the same period of 2026. Diesel variants are priced between Rp 416.8 million and Rp 574.2 million.
