Toyota launches compact Land Cruiser FJ, sells out in Japan and debuts in Venezuela

Toyota introduced the Land Cruiser FJ, a compact 4.5‑metre ladder‑frame SUV equipped with a 2.7‑litre gasoline engine, six‑speed automatic transmission and part‑time 4WD. Priced at about 4.5 million yen in Japan, the model sold out instantly on its launch day (May 14 2026), with the first allocation of units completely allocated and a waiting period extending into the autumn‑winter season.

In Venezuela, the Land Cruiser FJ was presented with two trims: a base version at US$56,900 and a premium WX version at US$64,990. The vehicle is produced in Thailand and will be sold exclusively in three South American markets – Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Toyota Venezuela announced a financing partnership with BBVA Provincial, offering credit up to 90 % of the vehicle price for individuals and up to 100 % for companies, with terms of up to 48 months. The company expects to sell 500 units of the model in the country by year‑end, with a target to double that figure in 2027. The SUV retains off‑road features such as a 245 mm ground clearance, differential lock, DAC and HAC systems, and includes modern safety and infotainment equipment.
