Toyota launches GR Kart for entry-level racing in Japan
Toyota's Gazoo Racing division has launched the GR Kart in Japan, designed as an affordable entry point for children, youths, and novice drivers to engage with motorsport. The vehicle features a 215cc gasoline engine and weighs 83 kg.
Designed for ease of transport, the kart's compact dimensions (182 cm long, 116 cm wide, and 67.1 cm high) allow it to fit inside a minivan or small van without disassembly. The seat is adjustable to accommodate drivers ranging from 1.34 to 1.86 meters in height.
Produced at the Gamagori GR Kart Workshop in Aichi Prefecture, the kart is available through 36 karting circuits and 7 GR Garage dealerships across Japan. The retail price is set at 385,000 yen. The vehicle is intended strictly for closed circuits and cannot be registered for road use. Akio Toyoda, president of Toyota Motor Corporation, stated his goal is to make motorsport as widely practiced as baseball or football.
