Toyota launches updated Harrier hybrid SUV with new features
On August 3, Toyota announced a mid‑cycle refresh of its Harrier SUV, converting the model to a single 2.5‑liter hybrid powertrain and discontinuing gasoline and plug‑in hybrid variants. All trims now feature a standard 100 V, 1500 W accessory power outlet in the luggage compartment, providing emergency and outdoor power capability.
The update also introduces revised special‑edition trims, including the Z “Night Shade” and Z “Leather Package · Night Shade,” which add black‑finished exterior accents and premium leather interiors. Pricing for the base G grade starts at ¥4,396,700, with the top‑spec Leather Package · Night Shade reaching ¥5,561,600, while an optional E‑Four electric‑four‑wheel‑drive system adds ¥220,000 to each model.
Toyota positions the refreshed Harrier as a premium midsize SUV that combines refined styling, a spacious cabin and the quiet, seamless acceleration of its hybrid system, aiming to stay competitive against rivals such as Nissan’s X‑Trail, Mazda’s CX‑60 and Honda’s ZR‑V.
