Toyota expands electric SUV line‑up with upgraded bZ4X Touring and 2026 refresh

Toyota is rolling out a major upgrade to its bZ series of electric SUVs. For the 2026 model year the brand improved fast‑charging capability, raising the allowable power intake and adding better battery‑thermal management and pre‑conditioning, which together lift range modestly and bring power up to 338 hp (250 kW). Interior ergonomics have been refined, with a larger touchscreen and updated material finishes, while the exterior receives a more futuristic design.

The new bZ4X Touring variant adds a 74.7 kWh battery that can charge from 10 % to 80 % in about 28 minutes at 150 kW. Cargo capacity jumps to 669 L (1 178 L with rear seats folded) and the vehicle gains off‑road aids such as X‑MODE, Grip Control and a reinforced roof‑rail system. Pricing in Europe starts around €53 000. The enhancements aim to make the SUV more suitable for adventure‑oriented families while keeping the model competitive in the fast‑growing EV market.
