Renault updates Renault 5 E-Tech with increased range and new LFP battery
Renault has announced a significant update to its Renault 5 E-Tech electric lineup, focusing on increased range and improved entry-level specifications. The 52 kWh Comfort Range version now achieves up to 430 km WLTP, up from 410 km, thanks to aerodynamic refinements and optimized battery electronics. The 40 kWh Urban Range version sees a slight increase to 315 km WLTP.
A major change is the introduction of a new entry-level 'Five' trim. This version will feature a 36.5 kWh LFP battery and a more powerful 110 hp motor, providing up to 305 km of range. Crucially, this model now includes standard 80 kW DC fast charging, addressing a previous limitation of the base model. The update also introduces new colors, such as Flame Red and Schiste Grey, and various aesthetic options like gold wheels.
In separate automotive news, Mercedes-Benz is seeing high efficiency from its CLA 350 4Matic electric sedan, which exceeded EPA expectations in real-world testing, achieving approximately 620 km on a single charge at highway speeds. Additionally, Mercedes-AMG has reported a segment-leading lap time for the new CLA 45 4MATIC+ at the Nürburgring, highlighting the performance capabilities of its three-motor electric powertrain.
