Toyota leads Vietnam hybrid vehicle sales amid August market decline

Hybrid vehicle sales in Vietnam saw a decline in August 2026, with VAMA members selling 1,388 hybrid units, a 15.2% decrease from July. This downturn is attributed to a general market slowdown and seasonal consumer behavior during the seventh lunar month.

Toyota continues to dominate the hybrid segment. The Toyota Innova Cross HEV emerged as the best-selling hybrid model in August with 371 units sold, surpassing the Corolla Cross HEV. Other popular models include the Yaris Cross HEV.

Regarding the Toyota Camry, the company recently streamlined its lineup in Vietnam to focus exclusively on hybrid versions. Despite the discontinuation of gasoline-only models in late June, sales reports for August showed one gasoline-powered Camry sold, likely due to remaining inventory. Total Camry sales for August reached 193 units, with 192 being hybrid models.
