Toyota Pickup praised by mechanic David Long for durability

American mechanic David Long, widely known as ‘Car Wizard’, has praised the 1990s Toyota Pickup as the best vehicle in the world due to its extreme durability and simplicity.

Long highlighted that the vehicle represents a disappearing manufacturing philosophy: creating machines that are simple, sufficiently powerful for work, and robust enough to withstand decades of heavy daily use. He specifically noted the reliability of the Toyota 22R and 22R-E four-cylinder engines. While the 22R-E produces only approximately 115 horsepower, its lack of complex turbochargers, intricate emission systems, or interdependent electronic modules makes it exceptionally easy to maintain and highly resilient.
