Toyota prepares 60th anniversary special edition of Corolla
Toyota is preparing a 60th-anniversary special edition of the Corolla to celebrate the model's history of reliability and global presence. For the United States market, the company will release a limited run of 2,500 units based on the Corolla SE Hybrid. This commemorative edition will feature exclusive colors, including a new Supersonic Red, 18-inch machined alloy wheels with a black finish, and a specialized interior with black and red fabric inserts. Additional exclusive elements include a 10.5-inch Toyota multimedia system and 60th-anniversary branded door sills.
The 2027 Corolla lineup will also include standard gasoline versions (LE, SE, and XSE) powered by a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force engine producing 169 horsepower, alongside various hybrid configurations.
In the competitive landscape, the Corolla continues to face significant rivalry from models like the Volkswagen Golf. Comparisons between the hybrid versions of these vehicles highlight a technical duel: while the Corolla offers higher combined horsepower (196 CV) and a larger engine displacement, the Volkswagen Golf utilizes a more powerful electric component to achieve similar acceleration and top speeds.
