Toyota prepares updated Hilux launch in Brazil and Asian markets
Toyota is preparing to launch an updated Hilux pickup truck in Brazil, with the debut expected in the first week of December in Foz do Iguaçu. The vehicle, which will be manufactured at the Zárate plant in Argentina, features a deep redesign of the current generation. Key updates include a modernized exterior with a cleaner front design and a completely modified interior inspired by the Tacoma and Land Cruiser, featuring a 12.3-inch multimedia screen and a digital instrument cluster.
A significant focus of the update is electrification. Toyota plans to offer mild hybrid (48V) and fully electric versions, with electric models already undergoing testing in Brazil. Despite these changes, the company will continue to offer internal combustion engines, specifically the 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine producing 204 hp.
In Asian markets, Toyota has registered the name ‘Hilux Travo’ with the Department of Intellectual Property of Thailand. This name is expected to identify the refreshed model in Southeast Asian markets, following previous naming conventions such as ‘Revo’ and ‘Vigo’. The Travo version will include updated LED lighting, a new grille design, and revised bumpers.
