Toyota Racing wins WEC 6 Hours of Fuji
Toyota Racing’s #8 crew, consisting of Ryo Hirakawa, Sebastian Buemi, and Brendon Hartley, secured a dramatic victory at the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 6 Hours of Fuji. The win came after a late safety car deployment allowed Toyota to overtake the Alpine Endurance Racing #36 crew by a margin of just 0.591 seconds. This victory marks Toyota’s first win at its home race in three years and places the #8 crew in the lead of the 2026 WEC Hypercar competition.
The event at Fuji Speedway also featured a visit from three-time Formula One World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart. Returning to Japan 60 years after his victory at the Fuji 200, Stewart waved the green flag to support his charity, Race Against Dementia. The foundation aims to address the global impact of dementia, a condition affecting over 55 million people worldwide.
