Toyota tests Hilux BEV durability with 760 kg trailer drop
Toyota conducted an extreme durability test on its new Hilux BEV, a fully electric version of the Hilux pickup, to demonstrate that the vehicle retains its legendary toughness despite the transition to electric propulsion.
Inspired by a famous 2003 test from the television program ‘Top Gear’, Toyota dropped a 760 kg trailer from a height of nine meters onto the vehicle at Bentwaters Airport in Suffolk, UK. The impact caused visible damage, including a dented roof, broken windows, and a deformed cargo bed. Despite the impact, the electric Hilux remained functional and was able to drive away from the site on its own.
The Hilux BEV features a dual-motor setup providing a combined 196 cv (144 kW). It is equipped with a 59.2 kWh battery and has a declared WLTP range of 257 km.
