Toyota tests Hilux BEV durability with caravan impact

Toyota UK has conducted a durability test on the new all-electric Hilux BEV by dropping a 760 kg caravan onto the vehicle from a height of approximately 9.1 meters. The stunt was inspired by famous durability tests performed by Top Gear and was organized following a Reddit poll where users chose between a demolition ball or a caravan impact.

The test, held at Bentwaters Airfield, resulted in significant cosmetic and structural damage to the pickup, including a deformed roof, cracked windshield, and a dented cargo bed. However, the vehicle remained functional; the electric motors and battery, mounted on the chassis, resisted the impact, allowing the Hilux BEV to restart and drive away under its own power.
