Toyota updates C-HR hybrid SUV and develops hydrogen Hilux

Toyota is expanding its presence in both the consumer hybrid market and advanced alternative fuel research. In Spain, the company has updated its C-HR hybrid SUV, offering discounts of up to €7,000 to compete with rivals such as Nissan and BYD. The C-HR remains a top seller in the Spanish hybrid segment, with available configurations including Hybrid 140, Hybrid 200 with all-wheel drive, and a Plug-in Hybrid 220 version.

Simultaneously, Toyota is advancing hydrogen technology through its motorsport division. The company has developed the Toyota DKR GR FC Hilux, a hydrogen fuel cell prototype designed for the 2027 Dakar Rally. Unlike previous experiments, this vehicle utilizes a fuel cell system to generate electricity for an electric motor, emitting only water vapor. The project aims to test the durability of hydrogen-based propulsion under extreme mechanical and thermal conditions in the Dakar Future Mission 1000 category.
