Toyota updates Corolla lineup with hybrid models and EV concept
Toyota is updating its iconic Corolla lineup with several new models and design directions. In Japan, the company has released updated versions of the Corolla sedan and Corolla Sport hatchback. The sedan models have transitioned to a hybrid-only lineup featuring a 1.8-liter hybrid system, while the hatchback updates include new color options and redesigned wheels.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Corolla series, Toyota has introduced special edition models, such as the ‘G Z Active Elegance’ for the Corolla Sport, featuring unique two-tone ‘Black x Mustard’ paint and high-quality interior materials.
Looking toward the future, Toyota unveiled the ‘Corolla Concept’ at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. This concept vehicle showcases a streamlined design with a ‘Hammerhead’ front aesthetic and is built on a platform intended for battery electric vehicles (BEV). The concept emphasizes sustainability through the use of recycled plastics and plant-based synthetic leather, signaling the brand's shift toward electrification and advanced autonomous driving technologies.
