Toyota Crown Estate to receive hybrid system update in December 2026

Toyota is planning a minor change for the Crown Estate, scheduled for release in Japan in December 2026. This update will complete the refresh of the new-generation Crown series, which includes the Crossover and Sport models.

A central feature of the update is the adoption of the fifth-generation hybrid system (5THS). For the 2.5L hybrid model, this system is expected to increase the maximum motor output by approximately 50% compared to previous versions, improving both acceleration and fuel efficiency. The WLTC mode fuel consumption for the 2.5L hybrid is projected to improve by about 1km/L, reaching 20.3km/L.

Other anticipated changes include the standardization of digital keys across all grades, the inclusion of cold-weather specifications as standard equipment, and a change in body color to ‘Neutral Black’. Prices are expected to rise slightly, with estimates suggesting an increase of approximately 140,000 to 150,000 yen depending on the grade.
