Toyota updates Sienta and Pixis Epoch vehicle lineups in Japan
Toyota is implementing several updates to its compact vehicle lineup in Japan, focusing on its MPV and sedan segments. The Sienta, a popular compact minivan, has received a partial update to enhance its competitiveness. The entry-level X grade remains a popular option for families, with prices starting at approximately 2.14 million yen. Due to rising popularity, delivery times for the Sienta are expected to extend into early next year.
Additionally, the Pixis Epoch, an OEM version of the Daihatsu Mira e:S, has undergone improvements to its grade structure and safety features. The updated model introduces the top-tier X Limited grade and expands the capabilities of its Smart Assist safety system to detect cyclists and pedestrians at intersections. Despite being an OEM model, it maintains high fuel efficiency of up to 27.0 km/L for 2WD models.
In a broader look at Japanese automotive history, the market is noted for its unique and highly individualized vehicles, such as the Toyota iQ, the glass-bodied Toyota Sera, and the two-seater Suzuki Twin, which showcased the industry's historical emphasis on diverse and specialized designs.
