Toyota's European manufacturing hub in Valenciennes, northern France, assembles the Yaris Cross, the continent’s best‑selling B‑SUV. The plant, operating three shifts with about 5,000 workers, can turn a steel coil into a complete vehicle in roughly 14 hours and produces over 1,250 cars daily, reaching a total output of more than one million Yaris Cross units since the line opened.

Last year the factory built 212,539 Yaris Cross models, with 55 % of the parts sourced domestically, while batteries arrive from Japan and electric motors from Poland. Toyota has implemented a green policy that limits water use to one cubic metre per car, recycles 30 % of that water, and aims for zero‑CO₂ emissions by 2030. The recent restyling reduced front‑bumper components from ten to seven, speeding up assembly and lowering the vehicle’s environmental footprint. Powertrain options have been simplified to a single 1.5 Hybrid system delivering 131 hp, discontinuing the lower‑output 116‑hp version.

The plant’s highly automated production line features robotic welding, laser‑guided quality checks, and extensive paint‑shop recycling, illustrating Toyota’s blend of efficiency, quality control, and sustainability in its European operations.
