Toys“R”Us announces major U.S. expansion with 120 new stores
Toys“R”Us is launching a major nationwide expansion in the United States, planning to add 120 standalone stores by the end of 2026. This initiative, managed in partnership with Go! Retail Group, will increase the brand's total number of standalone locations to 160.
The expansion includes a focus on Central Florida, featuring two new shop-in-shop locations at Orlando International Airport through a partnership with WHSmith North America. These airport locations aim to serve travelers with brands such as LEGO, Barbie, and Pokémon. Some stores may also feature Creator Studios for product launches, as well as candy shops and cafés.
This growth marks a significant turnaround for the retailer following its 2017 bankruptcy. Since WHP Global acquired a controlling stake in 2021, the company has utilized a multi-channel strategy involving standalone stores, airport kiosks, and shop-in-shops within Macy’s and Navy Exchanges. The move comes as the U.S. toy industry shows signs of rebounding, with sales projected at approximately $30.3 billion in 2025.
