TP. Dong Nai faces crisis after heavy defeat to Nam Dinh

TP. Dong Nai is facing a severe crisis following a 0-4 loss to Nam Dinh in round 5 of the 2026-2027 V. League season. The defeat has prompted head coach Nguyen Viet Thang to express his intention to resign.

The team's struggles were exacerbated by the last-minute absence of captain and star striker Nguyen Cong Phuong, who was forced to watch from the stands due to a sudden muscle injury. Without his leadership and ability to control the tempo, the squad struggled offensively and conceded four consecutive goals in the second half.

In addition to Cong Phuong, the team has been hit by a wave of injuries to key players including Ivan Andrei and Ngoc Lam. After five rounds, the newly promoted club sits at the bottom of the standings with only one point, having failed to score a single goal and suffering early elimination from the National Cup.
