TP-Link advises optimal WiFi router placement to boost home signal

Placing a Wi‑Fi router on the floor, behind a TV or inside a closed cabinet can severely weaken the wireless signal. TP‑Link explains that most home routers use omnidirectional antennas that radiate strongest in a horizontal plane; when the device is too low, the signal is absorbed by concrete floors or blocked by furniture, metal, and other obstacles. The company recommends locating the router in a central, elevated spot with clear air flow, away from large metal objects, microwaves, Bluetooth speakers, cordless phones and other sources of interference. Keeping routers apart from each other also prevents channel competition. Adjusting the router’s position often improves speed and coverage without upgrading the internet plan or replacing hardware.
