TP-Link expands Tapo smart home security with dual-lens cameras and 4K doorbell

TP-Link has expanded its Tapo smart home security portfolio with new hardware featuring advanced optical and detection technologies.

The company introduced three dual-lens 2K security cameras: the Tapo C246D (indoor/outdoor), Tapo C545D (outdoor), and Tapo C245D (indoor). These devices utilize a combination of a wide-angle lens and a 6mm telephoto lens to provide both panoramic views and detailed close-ups. The system features synchronized intelligent tracking, where a fixed lens detects movement and triggers the mobile lens to follow the subject. The outdoor models carry IP66 weather resistance, while the C246D is rated IP65. All three models include AI-driven detection for people, pets, vehicles, and baby crying, alongside smart night vision.

Additionally, TP-Link launched the Tapo Doorbell Pro D260, a 4K video doorbell. This model features a 180-degree diagonal field of view and a 4:3 vertical aspect ratio to capture visitors from head to toe. A key technical feature is the integration of radar detection, which works with AI to distinguish actual movement from background noise, reducing false alerts. The D260 also emphasizes privacy by performing facial recognition locally on the device rather than in the cloud.
