CAF Continental Competitions: Key Preliminary Round Matches Underway

The second preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup are currently in progress, featuring several high-stakes matchups across the continent.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Al Ahly secured a 2-1 away victory against Uganda’s Kitara FC, providing the Egyptian side with a narrow advantage ahead of the return leg in Cairo. Meanwhile, the match between CO Korhogo and AS FAR ended in a 0-0 draw, leaving the qualification battle open for the second leg.

In the CAF Champions League, Espérance Sportive de Tunis prepares to face Asswehly SC in Libya, while MC Alger faces a significant challenge against Nigeria’s Rangers International amidst a series of player injuries. Additionally, TP Mazembe played to a 1-1 draw against Club Africain, a result that complicates their path to the group stages.

In a notable development for the Confederation Cup, The Panthers FC of Equatorial Guinea has officially withdrawn from their tie against USM Alger due to financial constraints and the inability to fund travel and accommodation. This withdrawal may lead to USM Alger qualifying for the group stage via a walkover.
