TPAO applies for Black Sea oil production license

Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) has applied for an oil production license covering 56,774 hectares in the Black Sea. The application, submitted to the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG), targets an oil-bearing area discovered within the company’s existing exploration license zones, specifically within the C26 map section.

The requested area is located within Türkiye’s maritime jurisdiction, including its Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf, as established by bilateral delimitation agreements.

Additionally, TPAO’s oil exploration license for the Kara area in Tekirdağ has been extended. Originally set to expire on May 31, 2026, the license covering 12,160 hectares has been extended until May 31, 2028. The extension aims to further determine the region’s hydrocarbon potential and integrate resources into the economy.
