DNSC warns of TPARK impersonation in SMS fraud campaign
The National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC) has issued a warning regarding a new SMS fraud campaign targeting drivers in Romania. Scammers are impersonating the parking service TPARK to trick individuals into paying alleged unpaid parking fines.
The fraudulent messages are sent from unknown numbers and use high-pressure language, such as warnings of imminent penalties, to create a sense of urgency. These SMS messages contain links that lead to phishing websites designed to mimic the official TPARK visual identity, including its logo and graphics.
Once on the fake site, victims are prompted to enter their vehicle registration numbers and are subsequently redirected to a fraudulent payment page to steal banking information. DNSC advises users to never click on links in unsolicited SMS messages for payments and to only access TPARK services through official channels, such as the official app or by manually typing the correct web address into a browser. Those who have already provided banking details to these sites are urged to contact their banks immediately to block their cards.
