TPDC and partners launch Likong’o school project in Lindi

The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) has inaugurated the Likong’o Pre-primary and Primary School in the Lindi region. The project, valued at 1.278 billion Tanzanian shillings, was completed through a partnership between TPDC, Shell, and Equinor.

Funding for the construction was distributed among the stakeholders, with Shell and Equinor each contributing 36.66 percent, while TPDC provided 26.68 percent of the costs. The facility includes seven primary school classrooms, two pre-primary classrooms, an administration building, and various sanitation facilities.

Pachali Njiko, the Acting CEO of TPDC, stated that the success of oil and gas projects is measured not only by resource value but by their contribution to improving local livelihoods and sustainable community development. He emphasized that the energy sector serves as a catalyst for social progress by addressing essential needs such as education and water access.
