Tra Bong Bridge beam installation begins on My An - Cao Lanh Expressway

Construction has progressed on the Tra Bong Bridge, a major component of the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway project in Dong Thap province. On August 18 and 19, contractors began installing the first heavy concrete bridge beams using heavy-duty cranes.

The Tra Bong Bridge is one of the largest structures in the project, serving as a direct overpass across National Highway 2. Engineers expect to complete the installation of four spans within five days, with the goal of finishing the bridge structure by the end of 2026.

The My An - Cao Lanh Expressway is part of the North-South Expressway West section, featuring four lanes and a total investment exceeding 6,100 billion VND. The project is funded by South Korean ODA through the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) and Vietnamese government counterpart funds. Current challenges include the relocation of a 220kV power line and difficulties in sourcing materials for foundation work.
