Trabzon advances Gülcemal Project and Uzunkum Living Area

Construction has accelerated on the Gülcemal Project located along the Beşirli coastline in the Ortahisar district of Trabzon. Originally initiated as part of the ‘Vision 2019 Projects’ by former Metropolitan Mayor Orhan Fevzi Gümrükçüoğlu, the project began with land reclamation works in 2015.

Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç announced that the tender process was finalized on March 3 and the site has been handed over to the construction firm. A groundbreaking ceremony for the Uzunkum Living Area Project is scheduled to take place on September 10-11.

The development is designed to serve various age groups, featuring play areas for children, sports and activity zones for youth, and relaxation areas for the elderly. The project also includes approximately one kilometer of beach regulation and natural living spaces. Additionally, efforts are underway to install advanced biological treatment systems to protect marine life and help the region regain its Blue Flag status.
