Trabzon and Gazimağusa Sign Sister‑City Agreement

The mayor of Trabzon, Ahmet Metin Genç, and the mayor of Gazimağusa, Süleyman Uluçay, signed a "Kardeş Şehir" (sister‑city) protocol at a ceremony hosted by the Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality. Attending officials included the Consul General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in Trabzon, Fatma Demirel, and Gazimağusa municipal council members Erhun Şahali, Mine Karaca and Turgut Yenağralı.

The agreement aims to strengthen cultural, social and institutional cooperation between the two port cities, covering fields such as tourism, education, sports, and joint local‑government projects. Both leaders highlighted the historic ties between the Black Sea region and the Eastern Mediterranean and expressed hopes that the protocol will foster further collaboration.
